There’s nothing quite like spending a day at the beach for a mood boost, but those beach hair waves that come with being by the sea are an added bonus! Living in the middle of the UK (never mind the unpredictable weather too) my beach trips are unfortunately very few and far between, so natural sea salt sprays attempt to recreate those covetable beachy waves without a trip to the seaside and inevitability finding sand everywhere for days! These are my top picks for the best all-natural sea salt sprays with added organic ingredients too.
Best Minimalist Spray – John Masters Organics Sea Mist
The ideal minimalist product with the key ingredients being sea salt, lavender and aloe vera. I think it goes without saying that this one has the loveliest relaxing lavender scent! It’s super easy to use to instantly add some body and texture to your hair with loose waves. As the ingredients are so minimal, you won’t find your hair weighed down and left with that sticky feeling. Sea salt has the added benefit of absorbing excess oil so it’s ideal to use in between washes. A little goes a long way and the lavender oil adds shine while the aloe helps to keep some moisture to the hair.

Best for Dry Hair – Rahua Enchanted Island Salt Spray
This Rahua salt spray has a few bonus tropical ingredients added to help counteract the drying nature of sea salt and it also smells amaaazing – exotic and tropical inspired by the Galapagos Islands! Not to mention the super luxe glass bottle looks so good on your dressing table too. The key ingredients are pink sea salt for texture, guayaba sugars for moisture and softness, hibiscus extract for strength and shine, and passion fruit for that exotic scent. It honestly doesn’t dry your hair out at all and really enhances and defines natural waves without feeling crunchy. Absolutely the best choice if you’re after a salt spray for dry hair!

Tips for effortless, texturised beachy waves
One of my favourite ways to use salt sprays is actually on dry hair, a couple of days after washing. In the evening, spritz a salt spray through your hair until it’s slightly damp and then tie it up in a top-knot overnight. Come morning you’ll have the easiest textured beachy waves without making a trip to the coast! My main tip with this method is to try not to brush your hair too much afterwards so your newfound waves don’t start to drop.
If you already have naturally wavy hair like me, you’ll also find that using a salt spray after washing your hair when it’s still wet can really help to accentuate your waves. You just need to spray evenly through your hair and scrunch with your hands to add extra body. I prefer to minimise heat on my hair and let it dry naturally, but you can also blow dry with a diffuser attachment for the ultimate frizz-free look.
Even if waves aren’t your thing, sea salt sprays are also great for adding texture and volume to flat hair and for up-dos too!
