Antipodes is one of the more well known natural beauty brands that you’ll often see featured by even the most mainstream beauty and skincare lovers. I’ve only tried a couple of their products over the years but the Rejoice Light Facial Day Cream was on my wish list to try for the longest time! I finally got around to testing out a mini from a Naturisimo discovery box and it’s lasted me a good 6+ weeks which is amazing for a mini size so you can really get a chance to see how it works for your skin.
Antipodes products are made in New Zealand and certified organic by the independent body BioGro – read more about what certified organic means here. Their products are made with 100% naturally derived sustainable ingredients and do not involve animal testing, genetically modified/engineered ingredients, synthetic fillers or silicones, as well as artificial colours, fragrances and the usual undesirable suspects. One of the things I love about the brand is the packaging being fully recyclable with aluminium tubes, glass bottles and biodegradable card – it’s so important to try and reduce plastic waste where we can.
On to the product itself… It’s a light day cream that helps to balance and moisturise the skin without leaving an oily residue. The key ingredients are manuka flower oil which has antibacterial properties to help avoid blemishes and avocado oil for collagen boosting and hydration. It has a sweet almond and vanilla scent which to be totally honest isn’t my favourite, but you know how subjective scents can be and it’s subtle enough for me to be able to use up while keeping my sensitive nose happy short-term. That personal scent preference might stop me from investing in the full size – I think I’ve become more accustomed to herbal scents over the years!
It has quite a thick texture which surprised me at first considering the name, but you only need to use a small amount and somehow it manages blends into the skin as a light moisturiser. The main pro of this moisturiser for me is that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy at all. It’s ideal for both normal and oily skin and I find it makes a great base under makeup for my normal skin type.
Those of you with skin that’s more on the dry side might be better suited to their Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream instead, or you could always try doubling up with a serum too if you’re in need a little extra moisture boost.
