The last time I owned a liquid foundation must be well over a year ago now. I didn’t even realise for a while as I got hooked on Inika’s Mineral Foundation (reviewed here) and was more than happy to stick to it pretty much all the time, with only the occasional switch to a tinted moisturiser. I started to miss liquid foundations over the past couple of months though, so I picked up a couple of 6ml samples of Inika’s Liquid Foundation. The samples only cost a pound and look tiny but they’ve actually lasted me for weeks which is always great news for my bank balance!
Inika makeup products are such good quality I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. There are currently four shades available, ranging from light ‘English Rose’ complexions up to medium-dark tanned/olive tones. Cream, the lightest shade (swatched above on the left), is an almost perfect colour match for me when blended. I made the mistake of trying out Beige (right swatch) on my face, which needless to say made my pale self look ridiculously orange! The jump between these two shades is quite significant so I do think Inika could benefit from expanding their colour range for a wider spectrum of skin tones.
As is the case with most liquid foundations, it applies so much smoother when you use a good moisturiser or primer beforehand. I find it easiest to apply and blend with my fingers, using just a small amount at a time as it dries quite quickly. It has a mild, slightly herbal scent and it feels very light on the skin, just like another layer of moisturiser rather than a foundation. I would say the coverage can be light to medium depending on how much product you use, always leaving a radiant and natural looking satin finish.
The lasting power is really decent for daily use, although I personally need to use a little setting powder to keep the shine at bay throughout the day. When I’m looking for more of a full coverage, I’ve been pairing this with Inika’s Mineral Foundation over the top for a seriously flawless and long-lasting look – it’s no surprise that the two work perfectly together! My skin really loves this liquid foundation so I’ll can definitely see myself picking up the full size! It comes in a high end price at £42.00 for 30ml, but I always keep an eye out for discounts and sales at stores like Naturisimo so my Inika makeup collection will no doubt be growing very soon!
Have you tried Inika’s Liquid Foundation before? Or any other Inika products?
