Ever since I first heard about Little Ondine a few months ago, I knew I would love them! Little Ondine aren’t just any other nail brand – they’ve completely reimagined nail polish with a unique formula to make the whole process of applying and removing nail polish so much easier! Their ingredients include water, purified resin and colourants, and what I love the most is that it’s odour free (yes you did read that correctly)! As much as I enjoy having colour on my nails, the usual smell of nail polish is always off-putting, so it’s amazing to finally have the best of both worlds and completely avoid inhaling those overpowering fumes!
The other unique selling point is the ease of removal. Unlike most nail polish which requires acetone or a natural alternative (see my review of Fresh Therapies natural remover) to take it off, with Little Ondine you can simply work it loose from the sides and peel off the colour in seconds – it honestly couldn’t be any easier and it doesn’t damage the nail either! I’ve been testing out a couple of things from the range, including Secret*, which is the base/top coat, and a Twins set* containing two minis: Lava which is the deep red shade and Pop Rocks, an iridescent silver glitter with different shaped particles. I wouldn’t have thought to pair these two together, but I actually quite like the glitter as an accent on the ring finger!
Before applying, it’s important to make sure your nails are completely clean and dry. The application is super smooth and seamless as Little Ondine has a slightly thicker consistency than your usual nail polish. I like to apply two coats for a more vibrant colour, along with a layer of the Secret top coat for longevity and an even more glossy finish. While it’s still wet, you need to make sure you clean any excess from the edges of your finger to avoid it peeling off too soon. You also need to keep your hands dry for at least an hour as the nail polish stabilises and hardens over time.
I’ve had varying results in terms of how long this nail polish lasts! I’ve found that it peels off quicker on short nails but lasts much better on longer nails… I’m not sure why, maybe it’s because there’s more surface area for the nail polish to stick to! On my nails, without using the top coat, the colour started to peel after 2 days. With the base and top coat, it lasts for about 4-5 days on my nails so I’d recommend taking the time to apply that extra layer! I absolutely love the concept behind Little Ondine and, more than anything, I love having a nail polish that doesn’t give me a headache and doesn’t smell the whole house out! I will definitely be buying more from the brand and can’t wait to see even more shades added to the range in future!
Prices for Little Ondine’s nail polish range between £7-£11 for individual shades or £13 for Twin minis. You can buy direct from Little Ondine or at various online retailers including LoveLula.
