Since I discovered cleansing balms last year, I think I’ve become a little obsessed, pretty much wanting to try every single one under the sun! I’ve managed to stay sensible though by limiting myself to only one at a time! For the past couple of months now, Angela Langford’s Clean Sweep Cleansing Balm* has taken prime position for the evening makeup removal and cleanse.
The cleansing balm comes packaged in a squeezable plastic bottle with a flip-out cap at the bottom. I think I’d describe the balm itself as slightly lighter in texture than some others I’ve tried, which is great as it means it’s not too rich for my combination skin, even during summer. To use, Angela recommends a pea sized amount warmed between your hands and massaged into the skin. I often use a little more on days I’ve been wearing makeup, and then go back for a second cleanse with the pea sized amount.
Angela’s organic muslin face cloth* is perfect for removing the cleansing balm. The cloth is a lot better quality than most, retaining heat so much more effectively. Even though it doesn’t feel at all scratchy or rough, it helps to very gently exfoliate as you’re buffing away the balm.
I’m really impressed with how well this product works to remove makeup, thanks to the inclusion of castor and jojoba oils. It’s even gentle enough for removing eye makeup with absolutely no irritation for my sensitive eyes. My skin is always left well moisturised and softened (from the sweet almond, apricot kernel and shea butter) and the balm also has a soothing, brightening and purifying effect from the subtly scented blend of chamomile, lemon, cypress and eucalyptus essential oils.
I’ve been using this almost daily for 2 months and I have just under half the bottle left. The bottle contains 100ml of product and costs £21.50, so although it’s initially priced as a more luxury cleansing balm, the cost does even out over the time it lasts. The ingredients are also of a very high quality, with 98% being organic! You can check out Angela Langford’s full product range at angelalangford.com.
