Powder-based skincare products have a unique appeal as they can be so customisable, reducing waste and they often last much longer than usual too. I love how you can tailor powdered products to suit your own individual skin type by choosing what you mix them with. TRUE Skincare Certified Organic Gentle Superfood Exfoliator is one of the newer powder products in my collection which has been part of my routine for a few months now.
If you haven’t heard of TRUE Skincare before, the brand launched in 2018 with a focus on creating genuinely natural and organic, waterless and vegan skincare that’s affordable too. The ingredients used in their products are ethically sourced and organic wherever possible. TRUE products are also cruelty-free and suitable for vegans too. I love the branding and really like that they formulate their products without water, reducing waste and making them more concentrated with quality ingredients.
One of the key ingredients in this Gentle Superfood Exfoliator is kaolin to help draw out impurities form the skin, along with ground oatmeal and coffee. It also contains ground chia seeds to help exfoliate the skin and maca powder to stimulate collagen production. Eucalyptus and other essential oils bring antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
To use, you simply mix the powder with a few drops of water or face oil to transform it into an exfoliator. You can even mix it would other products like hydrosols, serums, or even yoghurt or honey to customise to your own needs.
The powder is finely ground with some larger pieces to effectively buff away dead skin cells while still being gentle enough too. You can definitely feel the exfoliation when you massage in to the skin.
This exfoliating powder has no discernible scent other than clay and you can see the little beads of coffee when mixed. I find it a little too drying for my skin with just water, so I much prefer to use this one combined with an oil or serum so it’s more hydrating. I also like to wipe it away with a muslin cloth instead of just water to make sure it’s all properly removed.
It does a great job of exfoliating, leaving the skin smoother and brighter. The versatility is one of the best things about this product as it’s so easy to mix more or less depending on my skin’s needs. I like to leave it on like a facial mask for a few minutes too – multi-purpose products always come in handy!
I picked this up from online retailer Kind Origins for £12. You can also find their products direct from TRUE Skincare or at other retailers like Holland & Barrett, LOOKFANTASTIC and Boots.
