As always, it’s a slow process for me to finish off products! Being on a bit of a on/off budget but with a penchant for the slightly more luxurious products, I’m one of those people that tries my best to make a product last as long as possible to get the best value for my money! This time around I’ve finished off a couple of full size and a couple of travel sized products.
Body moisturising is something that always gets forgotten about in my routine. I’ve been making much more of an effort lately though and it makes such a difference to skin texture. I’ve had a few travel bottles of REN’s Neroli and Grapefruit Body Cream before and used up the last a few weeks ago now – it’s a nice product with a great scent, but there’s one or two ingredients there I usually prefer to avoid in skincare, so I’m not really inclined to repurchase!
When it comes to truly natural products, they can often have a limited shelf life compared to conventional products. There’s been a few times over the past couple of years I’ve had products go bad before I had a chance finish them off, and the Botanicals Mandarin & Chamomile Facial Polish* is one of those. I love this super gentle exfoliating balm (reviewed here) but it was my own fault for not using it often enough really – it does says on the jar to use within 6 months of opening and I had it just a bit longer than that! I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase again in the future, but I have enough balm cleansers at the moment to keep me going for a while!
I’ve also finished off another balm-based product – a travel sized tub of One Love Organics Skin Saviour. I know this is a much loved balm in the green beauty world and of course I love it too! I really like the scent and it’s one of the nicest multi-purpose balms I’ve tried. I definitely want to try more from the brand soon as this is the only OLO product I’ve tested out so far.
My jar of bareMinerals Mineral Veil lasted such a long time – I think I bought this about 18 months ago or more and I’ve had a couple of jars in the past too. I used to use this all the time to set my makeup when I was only using liquid foundation and there’s no doubt it’s a fantastic finishing powder, always giving a flawless finish! I think I’ll change things up a bit and try the Inika Setting Powder next, but let me know if you have any other recommendations for me!
Lastly, there’s the Rooted Beauty Razz Lime Lip Butter* which I’ve mentioned before in my September Loves. It’s still up there as one of my favourite lip balms and I love the brand’s ethics. The packaging is environmentally friendly as it’s made from biodegradable paper (a lot more sturdy than you’d expect, it only started to break down a little towards the end!) and Rooted Beauty run the Woman2Woman Project, partnering with organisations to help women escape from extreme poverty and oppression. You can even track the progress of current projects and find out about the individual women who are benefiting from purchases. You can buy Rooted Beauty products direct at rootedbeauty.com or Health Monthly in the UK. I really hope you guys will check out and support the brand too as it’s such a great cause!
