At one point or another we all get stuck with spots and blemishes. Today I thought I would share a few of the products that personally work really well for me at banishing those pesky blemishes. Of course I still get them, more often than I’d like to admit thanks to hormones or just eating junk food occasionally, but these products make sure that those annoying little spots only make a fleeting appearance.
For those times when they only show up in the form of an uncomfortable red mark, Lavera’s Organic Mint & Zinc Anti-Blemish Treatment is my best friend. This is a 2-in-1 product with two separate sections that unscrew. One side is a roller-ball applicator which contains a serum you just apply straight onto the blemish as often as required. I find this really helps reduce the redness quickly and also has a soothing, cooling effect. The second side is a concealer which is a great idea, but unfortunately I can’t use it as the colour is too dark for my pale face! It would be fab if Lavera offered different shades for different skin tones in the future.
When I’m having a really bad skin day with lots of blemishes or any of those horrible cystic spots, I turn to Michael Todd’s Charcoal Detoxifying Facial Mask. I know I’ve already mentioned this mask a few times before but honestly I can’t recommend it enough! I leave this on for 15-20 minutes and my skin always looks and feels so much better afterwards. The charcoal in this mask draws out impurities and toxins and helps to unclog pores too, so I guess it’s easy to understand why it works so well at clearing up your skin!
I tend to follow this up with some Tea Tree Oil on a cotton bud and dabbing it directly on to any spots. If you’ve not used tea tree oil before it has a very strong scent to it that takes some getting used to, but once you get over the smell it’s an amazing thing to have in your beauty cabinet! It has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties which make it perfect for fighting off any bacteria causing the spots. I personally use the oil straight out of the bottle (undiluted), but if you have very dry skin I would recommend diluting it with water or a carrier oil as it can be drying on your skin otherwise.
Once the blemishes are healed, Trilogy’s Rosehip Oil is great for helping your skin and improving scarring as it contains lots of essential fatty acids. It’s also really effective in providing a moisture boost if you have dry and dehydrated skin too. I’ve been using Rosehip Oil every day for a couple of months now and couldn’t be without it. My uneven skin tone has really improved and I’ve managed to avoid any new scars so it must be working!!
Do you use any of these products? What are your blemish busting heroes?
